Linda Kay Lawson Oliver, 66, died Saturday, April 22, 2017, after an extended illness under the care of hospice at Oxley Park Health and Rehabilitation in Lyons, GA. Linda was born June 4, 1950 in Willow Springs, Missouri to Vester Lewis and Jessie M. Brown Lawson. She was one of ten children. She graduated from Willow Springs High School and was a member of Reidsville United Methodist Church. If one sentence could be used to describe Linda, it would be “she never met a stranger”. Raised as a Missouri country girl she was the caretaker for all sickly animals, nursing them back to health. A woman of action, she faced each problem with determination to find a solution. She loved riding horses and motorcycles and enjoyed country music. Although very thrifty with money, she would splurge on shoes. She worked for Hart Aviation and at the Landings tennis shop. After moving to Tattnall County in December 2003 she enjoyed her little dogs, Koko, deceased, Hobo and Missy and working in her flower garden. Before her health started declining she found joy and satisfaction in volunteering at her church food pantry. She was preceded in death by her son, Sean Smith; her parents; one brother, Leon Lawson; a sister, Pamela Hicks Wyrick; and a brother-in-law, Calvin Clisbee.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Harry W. (Hank) Oliver of Collins, GA. Siblings are Ronnie Lawson, Willow Springs, MO; Dale (Carol) Lawson, Cherokee, KS; Denver Lawson, Girard, KS; Bonnie (Don) Darnell and Betty (Bob) Hummel, both of Willow Springs, MO; Jimme Kates, La Jolla, CA; and Pattie Simmons, Girard, KS. Sisters-in-laws are Elaine Clisbee, Savannah, GA; Judy (Larry) Buford, Dallas, GA; and Renee Oliver, Richmond Hill, GA. Brother-in-law is Wayne (Julie) Oliver of Rincon, GA. A host of nieces, nephews and friends will miss her and cherish their memories.
Family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. from Reidsville United Methodist Church with Pastor Marc Foster officiating. Interment will follow in the Collins Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be to the RUMC Food Pantry, PO Box 218, Reidsville, GA 30453.
