Mrs. Lochlyn Kennedy Brewer, age 72, passed away on May 1, 2023, at Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick. She was born on January 5, 1951, in Metter to Jack and Anne Story Kennedy. Mrs. Lochlyn grew up in Reidsville and graduated from Reidsville High School. During her senior year, due to her scholastic accomplishments, she was able to move ahead and attend Mercer University a year early, where she would obtain her degree. Much of her life was lived in Collins and St. Mary’s. Following graduation, she would go on to work in education for an impressive 30 years. Students in various locales around the state would learn from her easy-to-understand teaching style in subjects like Earth Sciences and Physics. She was passionate about teaching and had a profound impact on many of her students. She ultimately retired from Ware County High School in Waycross. Mrs. Lochlyn was a devout Christian and was a longtime member of Collins Baptist Church. She served as the church pianist during the late 80s and early 90s. Her musical talent and passion for worship enriched the lives of everyone in the congregation. In addition to her love for teaching and music, Mrs. Lochlyn enjoyed reading and sewing. She was a talented seamstress and often created beautifully crafted items for her family and friends. The community has lost a beloved teacher, musician, and friend, and she will be deeply missed. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jack Kennedy.

She is survived by her husband, Tony Brewer of Kingsland; her sons, Mike (Jenny) Gaston of Raleigh, NC, and Steve (Erin) Gaston of Atlanta; sisters, Beth (Mike) King of Atlanta and Karen DeValois of San Francisco; granddaughters, Marissa, and Natalia Gaston; grandson, Luke Gaston; several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Collins Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend David Lamm officiating.
