LOIS BEISELL CUTBIRTH “She was a good, Christian lady.” Those words are accurate, but fall short of describing the depth of the life of Lois Beisell Cutbirth, 95, who passed away Wednesday, August 12 at her home in Reidsville, Georgia, with her family at her side, attended by Community Hospice. She was born September 3 rd , 1924 in Goldfield, Iowa. Her life was devoted to her faith and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend Robert E. Cutbirth and her son David Cutbirth. Bob and Lois were partners in Christ, leading congregations in Iowa, creating the Stanzel Christian school in Iowa, becoming missionaries in India, while raising their seven children. Lois especially loved playing the organ or piano in church and the singing of joyful hymns. She is survived by her daughter Chris of Nederland, Colorado, daughter Joyce Briggs (Rob) of Atlanta, Mark Cutbirth (Donna) of Atlanta, daughter Mary Spurgeon (O'Dyer)  of Reidsville, Georgia, Daughter Paula Glasscock (Glenn) of Texas, and son Nathan (Penny) of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, step grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She loved her back deck...the fresh flowers in pretty vases, especially vividly-colored hibiscus blooms, the hummingbirds hovering around the bird feeder, the deer roaming through her back yard, and the sleepy tabby cat on the railing. God's creation spoke to her heart. One of her greatest personal joys, however, was sitting inside her living room at her piano, playing and singing hymns. When she moved to Reidsville, she was active in the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary and the local Lions Club. She also became active in the congregation of the Reidsville United Methodist Church. She joined the RUMC choir. She always looked to the Christmas Cantata and Easter services with great enthusiasm. Her strong Christian witness extended through her whole life. Her voice, kindness, and faith will be sorely missed, as the simplest virtues are often the most difficult to replace. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Reidsville United Methodist Choir fund, PO Box 218, Reidsville, Georgia 30453.
