Lorene Cook Carter

Lorene Cook Carter entered into rest peacefully at her home on Friday, November 27, 2015. Lorene was born Hamilton, Alabama, but has lived in Statesboro since 1978. She was retired from Belk. Lorene was an avid seamstress, loved to cook, bake, and enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Lomie Cook; three brothers and one sister; her husband, Ernest C. Carter; and her beloved son, Vernon Roger Brown.

She is survived by two daughters and one son: Glenda B. Metts, Augusta, GA, Lisa B. Watkins (Ronald), Statesboro, GA, Connie E. Brown (Tina), Statesboro, GA; a very special daughter in law, Bonnie S. Brown, Florida; nine grandchildren: Carl Brown, Jeanie Mariner (Barry), Janet McDermott, Amy Spillman Winskie (Jim), Robert Spillman, Matthew Brown, Sarah Askew (Sidney), Lesley Watkins, and Winston Watkins; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 11:00 am at Emit Grove Baptist Church with Elder Jake Futch officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to her caregivers for their love and kindness: Connie Screen, Lacy Screen, Antonio Key, and Ogeechee Area Hospice.

Low Country Cremation Services and Burial of Reidsville, GA is in charge of the services.
