After a courageous seven month battle with pancreatic cancer, Lori Jean (Kumm) Erwin,
age 55, died peacefully on February 12, 2015. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, Lori loved spending time with her family and was always thoughtful of others.
Lori was born January 2, 1960, in Osmond, Nebraska, the daughter of Milford and Hattie (Schlote) Kumm. Lori was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith in Osmond. She attended grade school at Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Osmond High School in 1978. On October 7, 1978, she married the love of her life Robert (Bob) Erwin, also of Osmond, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They moved together to a farm outside of Osmond, where they raised crops and ran a dairy farm with their three sons. In 1991, they moved to Norfolk, Nebraska, where Lori started her own business as a daycare provider. Two years later, they moved to Baxley, Georgia, and she continued impacting children's lives through her daycare. They moved to Jesup, Georgia in 2006, and Lori ran a successful daycare until her sickness would no longer allow her to care for children. Lori loved all of her children, grandchildren, and daycare children. Family members will always remember her cinnamon rolls, pancakes, potato salad, and chili, as well as her skill at crocheting. Her faith and compassion will forever be an inspiration to all who loved her.
Lori is survived by her loving husband of thirty-seven years, Bob; sons, Travis and wife Jennifer Erwin of Hazlehurst, GA, Marc and wife Kinsey Erwin of Jacksonville, FL and Jon and wife Whitney Erwin of Jesup, GA; grandchildren, Colin and Brynn Erwin and Caleb Frye of Hazlehurst, GA and Karley Erwin of Jesup, GA; parents, Milford and Hattie Kumm of Osmond, NE; sisters, Denise and husband Steve Schnieders of Columbus, NE, Julene and husband Kirk Weyhrich of Osmond, NE; brothers, Mark and wife Joan Kumm of Osmond, NE, Michael and wife Marsha Kumm of Temple, TX; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Memorial services for Lori Jean Erwin will be held on Saturday, February 14 th at 2:00 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church. The graveside service will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to Epworth United Methodist Church at 675 South 3 rd Street, Jesup, GA 31545.
