Louie Hightower

Collins,

Mr. Louie Hightower, age 74, passed away Thursday January 22, 2015 at Optim Health Care after a long illness.  The Tattnall County native had lived in Collins all of his life.  He was a graduate of Reidsville High School Class of 1960 and served twelve years in the Army National Guard.  Mr. Louie was a former member of the Rising Sun Lodge #32.  He worked for the Georgia Department of Corrections for 34 years starting as a correctional officer at Georgia State Prison and retired as a Lieutenant at Rogers State Prison in 1997.  During his tenure he was name Georgia Department of Corrections State Correctional Supervisor of the Year in 1994.  He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served as song leader and a Deacon.  Mr. Louie was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Roe and Sweeter Hightower.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane B. Hightower of Collins; daughters, Angela Arthur and Lisa (Wendell) Thompson all of Collins, and Gina (Herb) Brown of Reidsville; son, Louie (April) Hightower of Collins; grandchildren, Jason, Joshua, and Anna Driggers, Ashley Perez, Chad Brown, Dillon and April Todd, Erin Brown and Kaylee Hightower; great grandchildren, Natalie and Eden Perez, and Aubrianna Todd; brothers, Ray (Naomi) Hightower and Larry (Annette) Hightower all of Collins; sister, Wilma Jean Hutcheson of Collins; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 5:00pm on Saturday from the Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory.  Funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm Sunday, January 25, 2015 from the Friendship Baptist Church with the Reverend Wes Collins, Mr. Tony Hutcheson, and Johnny Sikes officiating.  Interment will follow in the Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jason Driggers, Joshua Driggers, Chad Brown, Dillon Todd, Allen Harrelson and Donovan Murray.

Honorary pallbearers will be Georgia Department of Corrections Honor Guard

Memorials may be given to Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 1070, Reidsville, GA 30453.
