Louise (York) Gay

Reidsville, GA

Louise Y.  Gay , age 94, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Tattnall Healthcare Center surrounded by her family and under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.  A native of Lavonia, Georgia, she had lived most of her life in Reidsville where she was employed with Argo Mills and Roydon Wear for many years as well as Tattnall Healthcare Center.  Mrs. Louise was a devoted mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who love her.  She was a great cook and no one ever left her house hungry.  Her greatest pleasures and past times were fishing, tending flowers and selling her scuppernongs.   She was a passionate animal lover and leaves behind her beloved Jack Russell, Cricket.  A member of Reidsville Baptist Church, Mrs. Louise is preceded in death by her parents Ida and Gordon York; three brothers; seven sisters; husband, George Gay and great grandson, Christopher Cary Reynolds.

She is survived by two daughters Carolyn Culbreth of Reidsville and Betty Edge of Pineville, LA; one brother, Barney York of California; seven grandchildren Greg (Penny) Davis; Michelle (Nick) Wear; Cary Reynolds (fiancé Angie) all of Reidsville, Danny (Eunhee) Cranford of Kileen, TX; Patricia Alloui, Orlando, FL; Tammy (Chris) Steiner, Deville, LA; Jeffrey Eccleston, Deville, LA and eight great-grandchildren Farren, Gregory, Nicholas, Steven, Nicole, Joey, Cory and Colt Steiner and four great great-grandchildren Cruz; Hudson; Gracie and Camden.  A special niece, Margaret Peebles of Kite, GA along with several other nieces and nephews survive.

The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm Monday, July 27, 2015 from the funeral home.   Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00am Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Steve Miller officiating.  Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Danny Cranford, Colt Steiner, Greg Davis, Jeffrey Eccleston, Gregory Davis and Nicholas Wear.
