L.W. "Junior" Burkhalter

Mr. L.W. “Junior” Burkhalter, age 73, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.  He was born February 21, 1943 to Lannie Wilton and Ethel Baxter Burkhalter Sr. He was a retired school bus driver and a farmer.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his cows, and riding around the farm with his dog, Ginger.  Mr. Burkhalter is preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Ricky Burkhalter; siblings, Harold, Dwight, Gene “Boss”, Talmadge “Sonny” Burkhalter and Betty Burkhalter Woodcock.

He is survived by his wife, JoNell Burkhalter of Glennville; son, Craig (Mandy) Burkhalter of Glennville, Craig’s mother, Skizzal Burkhalter of Baxley; daughter, Kay Thomas (Jimmy Corbitt) of Douglas; Kay’s mother, Ethel Blanch Beckworth of Baxley; grandchildren, Madison Burkhalter, Richard Burkhalter, Kayla Morris, Matthew Thomas, Dylan Thomas, Trevor and Trenton Herrin; his little farming buddy, Shelton Harold; three great grandchildren; sister, Helen Fennell of Glennville; step sons, Brad Pickren of Glennville and Marty Herrin of Atlanta; special pet companion, Ginger Burkhalter; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm on Friday from the funeral home.  Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Saturday, April 16, 2016 from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation Services & Burial with the Reverends, James Holland, Brad Pickren, Felipe Rivera and Mr. Charles Tillman officiating.  Interment will follow in the Burkhalter Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tino Chavez, Jose Perez, Richard Burkhalter, Matthew Thomas, Dylan Thomas, and Leroy Rush.  Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Junior’s friends.

Memorials may be given to the Charity of Donor’s Choice.
