Margarete Biggers, age 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Florida Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident of Candler County, Margarete was born to the late Milton E. and Elizabeth (Schiefelbein) Boaen and spent much of her life in the community she cherished.
A proud graduate of Metter High School, Class of 1970, Margarete was known for her feisty spirit and unwavering determination. She was never one to let illness define her, pushing through health challenges for over 13 years with remarkable resilience. Her straightforward nature meant that you always knew where you stood with her, but beneath her directness was a heart full of kindness and love. Margarete never met a stranger, and her warmth and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
She had a love for collecting owl-themed treasures, from knick-knacks to blankets, and she took great pride in her self-proclaimed title as the “master” of checkers. Card games were another favorite pastime, bringing both laughter and competition to those lucky enough to play with her.
Above all, Margarete’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They were the heart of her world, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion that will be carried on in their hearts. Margarete is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Ricky Biggers.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jason Biggers of Lafayette, LA; George (Jessica) Biggers of Statesboro; Diane (Ferdinand) Clay of Reidsville; April Biggers of Savannah; and Brittany (Jake) Boaen of Metter. She was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren: Daniel (Mariah) Andrews, Brionna Andrews, Christian Clay, Demetrius “Eli” Sharpe, Anthony Biggers, Elizabeth Boaen, Jace Boaen, Savannah Biggers, Madison Biggers, and Harper Biggers. Her love extended to five great-grandchildren: Lila Bell Andrews, Levi Andrews, Everlee Andrews, Sarai Smith, and Khyro Sharpe. She is also survived by her brother, Jimmy Boaen; four sisters, Joyce Beasley, Eleanor Boaen, Mary (Carl) Edward, and Teresa Ross; numerous nieces and nephews; her best friend, Jeanette R. Williams; and many other relatives and dear friends.
