Marguerite J. (Goodyear) Shuman

Marguerite J. Shuman, age 91 passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on October 5, 1928 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland Canada to Baxter and Amelia Jennings Goodyear. She met the love of her life, Mr. Lawton Shuman, Jr. while he was stationed with the US Air Force in Canada. They were married in 1952. During Mr. Lawton’s military career, she and her children traveled and lived in many places throughout Canada and the United States and then settling in Hinesville in 1977. She was of the Methodist Faith and a homemaker that enjoyed sewing and gardening. She is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lawton Shuman, Jr. of Hinesville; children, Donna (Murray) Miller of Canada, Gary (Win) Shuman of Savannah, Damon (Karen) Shuman of Hinesville; sister, Marie Oxford of Canada; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Graveside services and interment will be held 11:00am, Friday, July 3, 2020 at Rogers Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Keith Beasley officiating.

Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the Shuman family.
