Mark Alan Davidson, 57, of Darien passed away February 24, 2018 from lifelong complications of kidney disease. He was born in Memphis, TN to the late Billy and Patricia Davidson. He lived in Martin and Dresden, TN with his loving step-grandfather until the late 60s when his family relocated to Waycross, GA. He was raised Methodist and enjoyed going to Boy Scouts at church where he rose to the rank of Eagle Scout with much hard work. There he attended Alice Street Elementary and graduated from Waycross High in 1979 where he played on the Bulldogs football team. He continued his education at Ware Technical School where he earned certifications as an Industrial Maintenance Technician. Most of his work was in the Propane business, where he lived and worked in Baton Rouge, LA; Brunswick, GA and then Darien, GA where he was manager at AmeriGas in Darien. He also worked as a commercial truck driver for many years in the construction, logging and seafood business where he made many friends. Mark was an avid outdoorsman who thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also played bass guitar in the southern rock band, Sundown which travelled the East coast in the late 70s. He will be remembered as a man of strength, will, and courage to his family and friends forever. Proceeded into heaven by his parents, brother and grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Howard Davidson; his beloved daughter, Emily Davidson Iler; his sons, James Everett Strickland, Richard Rivers Strickland and Evan Daniel Strickland; brothers, Bruce Davidson of Brunswick, Glenn Davidson of Darien, Randy Arnold of Mississippi; sisters, Catherine Harvey of Whiteville, TN and Pennye Hill of Columbia, SC; Also, his loving grandchildren who affectionately called him “Papa”, Laura Iler, Benjamin, Leyton, Gavin and Aubrey Strickland of Darien.
The family will hold a small private graveside service at St. Andrews Cemetery on March 31, 2018 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Mark’s name to Boy Scouts of America, Georgia Transplant Foundation or HART of McIntosh County.
