Mary Elizabeth Smith

Mary Elizabeth Edwards Smith, age 57, a dedicated bus driver for 19 years with the Tattnall County Board of Education, has peacefully passed away at Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah on March 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 22, 1966, in Vidalia. Elizabeth was known for her love of singing, dancing, and fishing, but especially for the joy she found in singing at her church, the Reidsville Church of God.

Elizabeth leaves behind a legacy of kindness and joy. Her vibrant personality resonated with all who knew her. She touched the hearts of many through her work as a bus driver and her passion for music and the great outdoors.

She is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Edwards and a brother, Jerry Edwards.

Mary Elizabeth Smith is survived by her beloved husband, Billy Smith of Reidsville; her mother, Lizzie Edwards of Reidsville; daughters Ashley Wilds (Brandon) of Springfield, Mindy Wilds (Bridgete) of Dublin, Danielle (Steven) Daigneault of Texas, and Haley Wilds of Reidsville; siblings, Eugene (Judy) Edwards of Lyons, Becky Edwards of Dublin and Gary (Mandy) Edwards of Bartow; grandchildren Madison Hutcheson, Addison Hutcheson, Aaron Wilds, Abbey Wilds; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Reidsville Church of God beginning at 5:00pm.  Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at the Reidsville Church of God with Reverends William and Linda Prince officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Luke Edwards, Bradley Griffin, Jonathan Edwards, Gary Edwards, Jackie Cobb, and Gabriel Cuevas
