Mary Edna Gates, 76, of Waynesville, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 at her residence. Born in Pensacola, Fla to her late parents Carl and Verna Mae Gates. She was preceded other than her parents, an infant son Ronald Hickox and a brother Buddy Gates. Mary was retired from Sears Manor Nursing Home and Paiges Mint Mart. She enjoyed watching her cooking shows and caring for her family. She was
a member of Waynesville Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years Russell Hickox of Waynesville, 2 sons
Ted Hickox (Betty) of North Wilkesboro, NC and Carl "Rusty" HIckox (Evelyn) of Waynesville. 5 grandchildren - Daniel Hickox, Theresa Cothern,Shedina Brown,
Brian Curry and Devin Curry all of Waynesville. 9 Great-Grandchildren and 1
Great-Great Grandchild, 1 brother and sister-in-law Donald (Linda) Gates of
Pensacola, Fla. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 @ 2 pm at Waynesville Church of God in Waynesville Ga with J W Griffin officiating.
