Mary Jack Smiley, age 77, passed away on Friday May 24, 2024, at Glenvue Health and Rehab. She was born on March 7, 1947, in Mt. Vernon to Thomas Charles and Sara Opal Hughes Allen and had lived in Savannah for many years moving to Glennville in 2019.
After graduating from Groves High School in 1965, Mary embarked on a fulfilling career path. She started at International Paper and later transitioned to Smiley's Sewing Center. At Smiley's Sewing Center, Mary's talents shone brightly as she not only taught sewing classes but also meticulously crafted christening gowns and children's clothes. Her attention to detail and commitment to perfection were unparalleled.
Her love for traveling allowed her to explore new horizons and create unforgettable memories along the way. She was a member of Windsor Forest Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Glenn R. Smiley, Sr.
Ms. Mary is survived by her sisters-in-law: Ms. Shirley Smiley of Aiken, SC; Ms. Linda Smiley of Lyons; and Ms. Joyce Fennell of Glennville; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 3:00pm on Sunday May 26, 2024 with the funeral services to follow at 4:00pm from the Chapel of Glennville Funeral Home with Bishop James Holland officiating. Interment will follow in the Poplar Head Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Fennell, Dana Fennell, Micah Fennell, Noah Fennell, Isaiah Fennell, and Ricky Smiley.
The family wants to give a thank you to the staff of Glenvue Health and Rehab for their love and care that they showed to Ms. Mary.
