Mary M. Tootle

Mary Marion Tootle, 69 of Reidsville, Georgia passed away from complications of Parkinson’s diseases on September 9, 2024. She was born on December 1, 1954 and raised in Baileyton, Tennessee. After graduating from Valdosta State University with a B.S. in Nursing, she served in the nursing profession throughout the local communities including hospitals in Tattnall, Toombs, Evans, and Bulloch counties. She was almost every type of nurse imaginable—a school nurse, a teacher of nursing, an emergency room nurse, a home health nurse, a med-surg nurse, and a hospice nurse. She touched many lives through her compassionate care. She is preceded in death by her parents William and Janet Marion and her sister Carol. 

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, James Tootle of Reidsville; son, Jeremiah (Calleigh Mentzer) Tootle of Rockwall, Texas; daughter, Dr. Erika Tootle Shirley (Aubrey) of Vidalia; grandsons, Wyatt and Wynn Shirley. She is also survived by family members: Hilda and Jerry Tootle of Reidsville; and Amber Tootle of Arvada, Colorado.
