Melva (Sherrod) Cadwell

Evergreen Community,

Mrs. Melva Sherrod Cadwell, age 79, passed away Friday evening May 19, 2023 under the care of Agape Hospice. Mrs. Cadwell was born on August 09, 1943 in Swainsboro, GA  to the late  Lawrence and Mattie Sherrod.   She moved to the Evergreen Community when she married the love of her life, Jerry Cadwell, in 1965.  Melva was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, cooking, and fishing.  She was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her family and friends.  Her favorite hobby was spoiling her only grandchild, Brant.  Mrs. Melva was a dedicated, longtime member of Evergreen Baptist Church where she served on many committees and sang in the choir.  She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 56 years, Jerry C. Cadwell, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Tonya Cadwell of Vidalia, GA and Pamela Davis (Broc)  of Reidsville, GA; brother Floyd Sherrod (Martha)  of Waynesboro; grandson, Brant Davis of Reidsville; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Evergreen Baptist Church with the funeral services to follow at 11:00am with Rev. John Gerdees officiating.  Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
