Michael R. Overcash, age 54, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Memorial Health in Savannah. “Mike” as he was so fondly known by so many was born in Alabama but was raised and spent the formative years of his life in Lilburn.  He would graduate from Parkview High School and begin post-secondary studies at Dekalb Technical College.  His studies would lead him to the automotive industry.  At the time his health began to fail, he was a service manager at 5-Star Dodge in Macon.  Despite his immense health issues, Mike still found a way to be a light in a dark world.  His “light” came in 2004 when he would marry Nancy Padgett from Reidsville.  The pair would live in the middle Georgia area until 2010 when they moved to Reidsville together.  He was not one to idle away the hours, he found great joy in coaching little league baseball.  Mike’s encouraging calls from the sidelines and gentle nature boosted the confidence of all who played on the teams he coached.  His true getaway though was found when he would go fishing.  He would while away many hours on the banks of local creeks, rivers, and ponds.  The entire family knew him as the loving protector and steadfast rock they could depend and rely upon.  A man that pushed through the pain that plagued his body to give to all those around him, Michael will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy Reid and Edith Ann Overcash and a sister, Brenda Proctor.

Left to cherish the memories of a life well lived are his wife, Nancy Overcash of Reidsville; a daughter, Alexandria Overcash of Forsyth; a sister, Wanda Overcash of Jacksonville FL; four step-children, Gina Blanton, Johnny Blanton, Katrina Blanton, and Lisa (Patrick) Ansell all of Reidsville; two grandchildren that he helped to raise as his own, Lexi Smith and Dustin Owens of Reidsville; 11 additional grandchildren; several great grandchildren; other relatives and a multitude of friends also survive.

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 15, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the chapel of Low Country Cremation & Burial in Reidsville.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 16, 2021, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Low Country Cremation & Burial with the Minister Brittany Parete officiating.

Interment will follow at the Reidsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Blanton Jr., Trey Blanton, Alex Colindres, Devin Willis, Joe Eason, and Tyler Rhodes.
