MACON
Mildred Lorene Shelley, age 92 passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Pine Pointe Hospice Facility in Macon. She was born January 2, 1922 in Macon, and lived there most of her life. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Mildred was retired from Bel Arbor Nursing Home and was known as a hard worker that was never one to just sit around. She was kind and strong, but feisty when the need arose. She was also a wonderful mother, always making her children her priority. It was her nature to be loving to her family and others, and was one that could always make you laugh. She was part of the “Greatest Generation” and made many sacrifices for her family and her country at a very early age. She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Shelley and her son, James K. Shelley.
She is survived by her son, Charles R. Bearden; daughter, Betty Shelley Carroll (Van); grandchildren, Brian Carroll (Flora), Bobby Carroll (Mouanh), Chris Bearden (Alicia), Greg Bearden (Tamara); great-grandchildren, Courtney Carroll, Brian Carroll, Jr., Chance Carroll, Crissey Bearden, Chris Bearden, Jr., Anna Bearden, David Bearden, Roseanna Bearden.
Visitation will begin 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 16, 2014 with Funeral services to follow at 3:00pm from Lighthouse Baptist Church in Macon. Interment will be in Grace and Truth Baptist Church Cemetery (Old Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church) Pallbearers will be the grandchildren and the great- grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to Pine Pointe Hospice 6261 Peake Road Macon GA 31210.
