Minister Shirley Carswell Bell
Shirley C. Bell was born to, Joe Henry (Peter) and Jessie Mae Mosley Carswell on October 7, 1935 and passed away on April 9, 2020. She joined the church at an early age, Beluah #1 Missionary Baptist Church, she later moved to St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church and then to Holy Ghost Assembly of the Apostlict Faith. Shirley was Minister of Clay Memorial Church in Reidsville until her health failed. She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 children, Carl, Ann, Vickey Lee Lawson, Jessica Sarah Bell; 3 siblings, Artis Carswell, Sr., Rena Mae Clay and Donald Carswell Sr.
She leaves to mourn her memory is a devoted husband of 47 years, Jesse Bell, Reidsville and a great legacy of eleven children, Willis Carswell of Statesboro, caretaker and daughter, Mary Ann Brown of Reidsville, Trendle C.(James) Clay, Sr. of Reidsville, Robert Lee Lawson of Tifton, Elizabeth Yvonne (Leroy) Tillman of Pompano Beach, Fl. Willis Carswell, Frederick Alexander Lawson of Atlanta, and Joseph Mathews Lawson of Savannah; adopted children; Robert Wade Lawson of Reidsville, Shanika (Garland) Smith, Jr. of Reidsville, Demetris (Katrina) Lawson of Reidsville, Cassandra Shaolin Lawson of Collins; Shirley also leaves twenty five grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
A viewing will take place on Monday from the hours of 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the funeral home. One person at the time will be allowed to enter the funeral home and view at a time. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Tuesday at the Sandhill Cemetery with Dr. Artis Carswell officiating.
