Collins,
Nan Knight Jarriel age 70, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center in Statesboro. The Tattnall County native had lived in Collins most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Rogers Baptist Church. She was a caregiver for her parents for many years. She had a fondness for all types of birds and loved to sew. People would enter Nan’s home as strangers, but would always leave as family; knowing her as “Mama” or “Aunt Nan”. Nan lived the biblical principal of loving your neighbors as yourself. She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Francis Lynn Knight; sons, Edward Gene Barnard and James Stephen Jarriel; sisters, Mary Knight Lamb, Myra Knight Spell and Jackie Knight Middleton.
She is survived by her husband of 35yrs, Jimmy Jarriel of Collins; son, Curtis (Michele Helton) Barnard of Hinesville; siblings, Myrna Jean (Wayne) Hatcher of Texas; Herschel Lonnie “Hop” (Gertrude) Knight of Jesup and Ronnie (Garlene) Knight of Hazlehurst; grandson, Charles Michael Helton; two great grandchildren; special aunt, Reba Cobb of Collins; special nieces, Michelle Justice and Ty Spell; special nephew, Fred Spell, Jr., several other nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday from the chapel of Bradley B Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm, Sunday, February 15, 2015 from Rogers Baptist Church with the Reverend Gerald Dorr officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mrs. Jarriel will lie in state beginning at 12:00pm.
Pallbearers will be Fred Spell, Jr., Carlos Holland, Randy Holland, David Rogers, Wesley Lynn, and Juan Rodriquez.
