In Loving Memory of Natalie Brewton Barfield

Natalie Brewton Barfield, a remarkable woman, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024, in Macon, Georgia. She was surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in McRae-Helena, Georgia, on November 26, 1933, Natalie was a graduate of Wesleyan College. During and after college, Natalie managed the Y-Teens and the Co-ed club at the YWCA in Macon and taught swimming lessons to countless infants and young children. Her unwavering commitment to her faith led her to become a devoted member of Vineville United Methodist Church and the Morning Music Club. She served as the church secretary for many years and continued to teach exercise classes for seniors until 2024. Natalie’s passion for music flourished as she dedicated herself to singing in the choir and captivating audiences in plays at Theater Macon and Macon Little Theater. Her contributions extended beyond the stage as she served as a board member of Theater Macon.
Natalie Brewton Barfield was preceded in death by her husband, James Stanford Barfield; father, Carey J. Brewton; mother, Malatha Lockler Brewton; brother, Fontaine Brewton; and sister, Karen DuSapin. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Bonnie Bunton; son, Carey Barfield (Natalie); daughters, Dale Waters (Mark) and Jana Simpson (Mark); sister, Stephanie Swanson (Larry); brother-in-law, John Barfield (Jane); grandchildren, Eathan Barfield (Jaiyana), Rhett Barfield, Noah Barfield (Ansley); Michael McBrayer and Jason McBrayer; Tiffany Barnes (Ken); Melody Morales (Tony); Cory Simpson (Kaitlyn); and her great-grandchildren, Maverick Barfield, Maezie Barfield, Liam Simpson, Dakota Minshew, Alexis Easterling (Nick), Ethan Morales, and Gavin Barnes. Natalie also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on November 30, 2024, at Vineville United Methodist Church in Macon, Georgia, in honor of Natalie’s life and legacy.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Vineville UMC, The Methodist Home for Children and Youth, Theater Macon, or The Morning Music Club.
