Ned Stephens Anderson, age, 77, passed away April 21,2025 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.
Born on May 29, 1947, to Ottis Anderson Sr. and Vesta Louvincy Oliver Anderson in Reidsville Georgia, he was a Tattnall County native and Vietnam Area Veteran who dedicated his life to public service after serving in the United States Army. A recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Overseas Service Bar and the M-14 Sharpshooter Badge, he was Honorably Discharged in 1968.
After returning home to his native Georgia, he served in many capacities of law enforcement to include Patrol Officer and Sgt with Vidalia Police Department, Special Agent with the Georgia Department of Revenue until it was disbanded, Patrol Officer with Manitou Springs Colorado, Chief of Police in Stover, Missouri and Patrol Officer / Mounted Patrolman with the Breckenridge Colorado Police Department where he retired in 2003.
Upon his retirement he returned to Georgia to live out the remainder of his life pursing many hobbies to include painting, sketch art and genealogy research.
He is survived by his two (2) daughters: Christel K. Anderson-Howard (Brent) of Hinesville and Amanda C Anderson Penvellyn (Leo) of Henderson Nevada. Two (2) sons, Steven A. Anderson and Marshall H Anderson, both of Henderson Nevada, his sister in law, Cherylene Anderson of Glennville as well as four (4) Grandchildren, Alexander Edwin Howard, Brennen Davis Howard, Grace Ann Howard, and Tallison Kathryn Howard.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Myrtle Mauk, Mildred “Midge” Sikes, Margaret Green, Francis Bradley, Jean Rewis, Ottis “Pop” Anderson and Calvin Anderson
Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm, Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Low Country Cremation and Burial. Graveside Services and Internment will be on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 11:00am at Anderson Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with full military honors.
