Nell Petrea McCreery, 88, departed this life for a better, Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Chemistry, teacher, coach, gardener, musician and homemaker, she was a woman of diverse talents, many accomplishments and broad interests. Born and raised in South Carolina, she was an ardent Clemson fan. At college she played tennis and sang with the Newberry Singers. She later worked as a chemist at Celanese in Rock Hill and as a high school English teacher in Savannah. Over the course of her life she served as church organist and sometime choir director for St. Paul’s, Faith and Redeemer Lutheran churches in Savannah. She adored growing and judging daylilies and had been a regional vice-president of the American Hemerocallis Society.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Baxter, and leaves behind four children and four grandchildren. She will be always loved.
Services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on Wilmington Island, with a visitation at 10:00am and the funeral at 11:30am, followed by interment at Bonaventure Cemetery.
Low Country Cremation Services and Burial is serving the McCreery family.
