Patricia Gail Bullock Odom , age 62, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016. A native of Thomasville, Georgia, Gail was a graduate of Thomasville High School and attended West Georgia College. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of South Carolina in 1975. She also studied and taught ballet, dance, and exercise. Gail is a former Miss Georgia 1973. She married Theodore Foster Odom of Jesup, GA and during their 36 year marriage resided in Columbia, South Carolina; Washington, D.C.; Bellville; Savannah and finally settled in Jesup, Georgia. She devoted her time to raising their two daughters, the “lights of her life.” In addition to her role as mother, she also enjoyed a successful career in broadcasting and advertising from 1974 to 2002. Gail was active in community service over the years as she served as a Miss America Organization participant and volunteer from 1970 to present; Junior Service League member from 1985 to 1989; Wayne County Recreation Department Volunteer from 1992 to 2001 and Wayne County High School Soccer programs volunteer from 1996 to 2004. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Escott James, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Rufus George Bullock, Sr.; parents Mr. and Mrs. Rufus George Bullock, Jr., and her younger sister, June Bullock Beatty.
She is survived by her daughters, Erica Blake Odom of Athens, Georgia and Ashley Odom and her husband, Cameron Kuhlman of Savannah; sister, Lina Bullock Palmer of Meigs, GA; one granddaughter, Georganna Gray Wilson of Savannah, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.
In keeping with Gail’s wishes memorialization will be by cremation.
