Patsy Nadine (Guffey) Walker

Claxton

Pat Walker, 78, went home to be with her Lord January 24, 2015, in Statesboro, Georgia, under the compassionate care of the staff at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center in Statesboro, Georgia.

While a native Tennessean, Pat called Claxton, Georgia, home for the last 30 years. She resided in Statesboro the last five years. Pat was a member, Sunday School teacher, nursery director, children’s worker, VBS director, and the pastor’s wife at Calvary Baptist Church for 17 years. In addition, she was an accounts payable data clerk for Claxton Poultry for several years, but at age 60 decided to go back to school to become an LPN. She not only obtained her degree but also graduated the top of her class. She was employed at Savannah Hospice, Nightingale Hospice, Glenvue Nursing Home, and Pulaski Nursing Home. Pat was passionate about her work because she was able to serve those in need and to share her strong faith in God and her love for the Lord.

Pat was also passionate about her children, grandchildren, and people in general. She never met a stranger.  She always shared her faith.  “Nanny” will always be remembered.

Pat married her childhood sweetheart, the late Reverend Bob Walker, in February 1954 and loved and cared for him until he went to be with the Lord in 2007.

She is survived by her daughter, Joni Walker-Seier, and husband, Jeff, and their son, Robb Kicklighter, and wife, Amanda, and their children, Micayla, Isabella, Amelia, and Robert, all of Statesboro; her daughter, Tane Jones, and husband, Ed, and their daughters, Amanda Parker, and Leah Parker-Rucker, and husband, Chris, and their children, Natalie and Tyler, all of Claxton; her son, Reverend Marty Walker, and wife, Renee Waters Walker, and their children Landon and Katie, all of Claxton; and a special nephew Pat considers a son, Frank Walker, of Dahlonega. In addition, she is survived by a sister-in-law, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Kate Haynes Guffey, and her sister, Barbara Jean Guffey.

The celebration service will be held Tuesday, 2:00 p.m., at Calvary Baptist Church, Claxton, Georgia, with Reverend Marty Walker officiating, assisted by Robb Kicklighter and Reverend Joe Eason. Pat’s body will lie in state at Calvary Baptist Church two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Canoochee Church Cemetery in Claxton. Pallbearers will be Landon Walker, Michael Walker, Brian Walker, Drew Molloy, Jerry Wiggins, and Reverend Rusty Manning.
