Paula Ann (Strong) Disterhaupt

Paula Ann Strong Disterhaupt, age 76, passed away peacefully at her home in Guyton, Georgia, on January 29, 2017.  She was born on March 3, 1940, in Atkinson, Nebraska to Charles and Ruth Strong.  Paula graduated from St. Mary’s College in Omaha, Nebraska with a degree in Home Economics.  On May 15, 1965, she married Herman Disterhaupt, and together they had four children.  Paula owned a craft and bridal store in Glenwood, Iowa until her retirement in 1998.  She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Glenwood, volunteered for Mills County 4-H as a club leader, was a Pro-Life advocate and a lifelong member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Paula is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruth Strong, of Omaha, Nebraska.

She is survived by her husband, Herman Disterhaupt, and their children, Ann (Kipp) Kelly of Guyton, GA; Karin (Paul) Tucker Hoffman of Jacksonville, FL; Kathy Schoening of Kansas City, MO; and James (Jamie) Disterhaupt of Gainesville, FL.  She is also survived by her grandchildren:  Ryan and Kaitlyn Kelly; Kali, Brooke, and Brayden Schoening; and John Tucker.  Paula is also survived by her siblings, Patricia Poledna, Charlene (Ron) Williams, Charles (Linda) Strong, , and Jean (Tommy) Biles.

A private memorial service has been planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ogeechee Area Hospice, 200 Donehoo Street, Statesboro, Georgia 30458.
