Penny Denise Brown

Penny Brown, age 55, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Community Hospice. She was born in Douglas on September 5, 1969 and had lived in Broxton for many years, moving to Collins 2 years ago. She was a homemaker that enjoyed tending to her flowers and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Penny is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Brown and her stepmother, Janette Carelock.

She is survived by her children, Jana (Kevin) Bessent of Collins, Michael “Corey” (Jennifer) Brown of Fitzgerald, Rebecca Brown (Kyle) of Hazlehurst; parents, James Junior “JJ” Carelock, Daniel Carelock both of Alma and Glenda (James) Johnson of Hazlehurst; siblings, Darron (Debbie) Carelock of Alma and Jackie (Kevin) Tillman of Alma; grandchildren, Jazmine, Kevin Jr. (Elizabeth), Jeremy, Aireonna, Abigaile, Kimberly, Keiley; a great grandson due in March

The family will receive friends on Friday beginning at 2:00pm with the funeral services to follow at 3:00pm from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial.  Interment will be Mt. Carmel Methodist Church Cemetery.
