Philip Bootle Smith

SUTHERLAND BLUFF

Philip Bootle Smith age 94, of Sutherland Bluff passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Magnolia Manor on St. Simons Island. The Tattnall County native was a Reidsville High School graduate and had lived in McIntosh County since 1946. He was an avid sportsman who owned and operated Kip’s Fishing Camp, restaurant, cabins, shrimp boats, party boats, boat rentals, and a motel from 1946 to 1972; He was a caretaker for the Masonic Home Summer Camp for 14 years. He honorably served in WW II and was a US Army Veteran. He was a former member of Reidsville Baptist Church and joined Shellman Bluff Baptist Church in 1952 and became a member of the Masonic Lodge #137 in Darien, GA. for 67 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford “Kip” and Ina Smith, brother and sister-in-law, Allen Clifford “Little Kip” and Jerry Smith and a nephew, Terry Allen Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Nina Smith; sons, Daniel Philip Smith and Alan Lewis Smith (Kim); daughter, Lota Ina Bryans (Chuck); grandsons, Clifford Brannon Mason (Tracy), Charles Iverson Bryans, IV (Mai), Philip Eugene Bryans; granddaughters, Amy Elizabeth Damascus (John), Angela Jean Bournazos (Steve), Elizabeth Lee Silva; great-grandsons, Ethan Smith Mason, Daniel Damascus, Aris Bournazos, Brody Lewis Silva; great-granddaughters, Alexa Bournazos, Gabrielle Damascus, Eva Damascus, Skyler Silva, Caroline Grace Mason. He is also survived by numerous other relatives.

Visitation will begin 10:00am Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Shellman Bluff Baptist Church with funeral services to follow at 11:00am with the Reverends Bob Briley and Harry Coursey officiating. Interment will follow in the Shellman Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery with Military honors.

Pallbearers will be, Clifford Brannon Mason, Cason Smith, Wood Smith, Keith Pitts, Kent Hutchinson, Chuck Hutchinson, Frankie Wallace,Marty Hutchinson, and Gary McDaniel

Memorials may be made to the Masonic Home of Georgia, 1417 Nottingham Drive, Macon, GA 31211.
