Statesboro,
Rachel LaVerne Hunnicutt McBride age 81, passed away on July 1, 2016 after a short illness.
She was lifelong seamstress, quilter, and crocheter. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. One of her favorite things was to travel with her twin sister, LaVonne to places they dreamed of going when they were young.
She is preceded in death by her parents Emma and Junious Hunnicutt, her husband Ralph, a grandson Thomas Puckett, one sister and five brothers.
She is survived by her children: Susan (Tony) Puckett, Tammy (Ronnie) Gay, and Tommy (Stephanie) McBride; grandchildren, Megan (Josh) Mitchell, William (Kristy) Gay, Nikki Gay, Justin McBride, and Jessica McBride; great grandson, Austin Gay; sisters, her twin, LaVonne King, Betty Powell, and Helen Russell. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 4 th beginning at 9:00am with the funeral services to follow at 11:00am from the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service at MacDonald Baptist Church Cemetery in Sylvania, Ga.
Active pallbearers will be Charlie Hunnicutt, Grady Jenkins, Gary McBride, William Gay, Justin McBride, and Austin Gay.
Honorary pallbearers are Alan Skipper, Ralph Cowart, the staff and residents of Southern Manor Retirement Inn.
