THE LEGACY OF

MR. RANDOLPH CLAYTON JACKSON

To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under the heavens.

Ecclesiastes 3:1

A Time to be Born

Randolph Clayton Jackson was born the fourth child of nine children on April 28, 1932 in Collins, Tattnall County, Georgia to the late Lester and Nettie Bostic Jackson.

A Time to Learn

He received his education by attending grammar school in Jacksontown, and high school in Collins and then joined the U.S. Army shortly thereafter. He attended Burlington County College by taking evening classes.

A Time to Plant

He was ordained as a Deacon at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Burlington, New Jersey, January 15, 1967.  He served as Assistant Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher.  He continued his faithful service to the Lord when returning to Georgia in 1976 by joining Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church and Pine Grove Baptist Church until his health failed him.  He also served his community as a dedicated founding member of the East Collins Community Center.

Deacon Jackson married Deotha Norward Jackson on July 28, 1955 and to this union, they were blessed with six children, one preceded him in death.

A Time to Build Up

He worked diligently his entire life ending his career as a Correctional Officer for the State of Georgia and a Jailer at the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Department.  If you knew him, you most likely heard the story about the time he only had enough money to buy one ice cream cone and he and his wife and the two oldest daughters had to lick off the same cone.   It was at that time he was convicted to work as hard as he could to provide for his family by doing what was necessary to give his children the very best.  He succeeded!

The Legacy Continues . . .

A Time to Die

The final call came to Deacon Jackson on February 21, 2021.

The joys and pleasures of his life were his relatives and friends.  His children: Latricia Jinks (deceased), Azilee Terrell (Hosell), Rowena Cheryl, Jennifer Green (Jimmy), Randy (Agniezska), Medger Jerome. Eight grandchildren: Aaron Jackson, Shawn Terrell, Desmond Hall, Teraceta Terrell, Shontanae Green, Destiny Jackson, Jacob Parker Jackson, and Noah Jackson; Eight great-grandchildren, Iliana Terrell, Kayla Terrell, Jalen Robinson, Steffon Terrell, Anton Terrell, McKenzie Jackson, Kamden Terrell, and Maurice Hall.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Deotha, off-spring (mentioned above), devoted brother, Charles, youngest brother Gordon (Frances), In-laws: Clora Jackson, David & Elmus Norward, Ulysses & Ethel Norward, Lewis Ealey.  Also, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.

A Time of Peace

“Therefore, we are always confident knowing that whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord; (For we walk by faith and not by sight:) We are confident I say and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.  Wherefore, we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.”

2 Corinthians 5:6-9
