Raul DeLeon Betancourt

Lyons, GA

Raul DeLeon Betancourt, age 72, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Community Hospice surrounded by his loving family.  The Texas native developed a love for the Kansas City Chiefs.  In fact, he jokingly refers to Patrick Mahomes as his “boy”.  Raul loved his family dearly and was the quintessential family man.  Lighting the world around him, he was always smiling ready to pick and play.  In his free time he enjoyed growing roses, bird watching and watching football.  A bright spot in a dim world, Raul will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Jesusa Betancourt; a brother, Frank Betancourt; two sisters, Hope Figueroa and Oralia Silva; a niece and a nephew.

Left to cherish memories of a life well lived is his wife, Susan Betancourt; four children, Tonya Bryant (Ed), Jennifer Alvarez, Dianna Shirey (Jeremy), and Bryan Betancourt (Lauren); a fur-baby, Marshmallow; ten grandchildren, Hailey Ford (Scott), Chelcee Wright (Jamie), Faith Bryant, Izabela Alvarez, Isandro Alvarez, Bailey Betancourt, Grady Shirey, Eli Shirey, Blake Betancourt, and Brooke Betancourt; five great-grandchildren, Jaxon Ford, Ellie Kate, Clara Wright, Viviana Alvarez, and Brynlee Wright; four siblings, Bertha Martinez, Gilbert Betancourt, Nina Santillan, and Mary Lou Dehoyos; several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and other friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Hammonds Baptist Church, 650 Hammonds Church RD Lyons, GA. beginning at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Caraway officiating.  Following the services a lite reception will be held in Raul’s honor at the church.
