Raymond Keith Roland, 63, of Dublin passed away on Thursday, August 31 after battling cancer for more than a year. Keith was surrounded by family and friends throughout the months leading to his death, up until the last moments. Keith was born to Roy Roland and Cora Foskey on November 4, 1953 in Soperton, Georgia. Roy, Cora and stepfather John Foskey preceded Keith in death. He served in the United States Army from December 13, 1971 until December 14, 1974 and was stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga. Keith retired in January of 2016 from the Department of Veterans Affairs after 31 years of service at Charles Vinson VA Medical Center where he was known by many and loved by all who knew him. Married for 24 years to Sarah Tipton Roland, Keith is survived by his loving wife, Sarah, his stepdaughter Marsha Sterling, stepson James Stacey Sterling, grandchildren Brittany Sterling Durdle, Hunter Sterling and Ella Bennett, sister Carol Roland Thigpen and her husband, Larry Thigpen, brothers Randy Roland and Mike Roland, and his wife Ann Roland, as well as half brother Douglas Foskey. Keith is also survived by many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews and countless friends from the community and his years at the VA. Special thanks to all friends and family who supported Keith and Sarah over his final months of life on Earth, and gratitude to the new friends from Serenity Hospice.
The family is planning a memorial service at Poplar Springs North Baptist Church, to be announced Tuesday.
Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the Roland family.
