Glennville,
Reverend Salomon Sarria, age 80, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at his residence. He was born May 29, 1939 in Managua, Nicaragua to Domingo and Rosa Sarria. During his formative years in Nicaragua, he was very physically active. He played for a minor league baseball team and was also a body builder. Being a strong young man, he thought he was invincible; this notion was challenged as he fell ill unexpectedly from a cancer like illness. He learned the incredible power of prayer and the healing that only God can provide, and he was miraculously healed from this disease! Honoring the promises, he made to the Lord, he became a missionary and began spreading God’s word throughout Nicaragua. His work led him to the South Georgia where he would continue the work in Tifton alongside his wife. While working there, he was recruited to come to Glennville to minister to the needs of the many migrant workers in the farming community of Glennville. He would go on to found the Church Hispanic The Way in Glennville. Additionally, he was one of the founding members of the Glennville Migrant Ministry group and an active member of the Glennville Ministerial Association. His love for God’s people did not stop at the doors of the church either. He was an active volunteer with the United Way. Truly, he was a selfless person who would help others no matter the church they attended or their station in life. In his free time, he was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and a huge fan of Chipper Jones. Even at the age of 80, he was always active and ready to serve; even preaching the last Sunday of his Earthly life. A devout man of God, a humble servant, and a faith filled leader he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sister Consuelo Sarria of Glennville; children, Socorro Sarria of Glennville, Martha Sarria of California, Silvio (Sixto) Sarria of Ludowici, Gloria (Rafael Cruz) Sarria of Nicaragua, and Jahaziel (Arielle) Sarria of Wathourville; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
