Richard J. Doyle, 82, formerly of Powell, OH, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2014 , in Bluffton, SC of pneumonia. He was born May 8, 1932, in Sioux City, Iowa, son of Frank and Marie Doyle and is survived by his loving wife Pamela (Ertley). He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marie Doyle, his daughter Victoria, and his sister Patricia (John) Read. He attended Kansas City University (Missouri Univ.) and proudly served 4 years in the Air Force. He completed the Advanced Management Program at both The Dartmouth Institute at Dartmouth College and Harvard University.
He spent the majority of his career at Borg-Warner spanning more than 33 years serving as President of Borg-Warner Acceptance Corp., VP and Controller of Borg Warner Corporate, President of Borg Warner York Air Conditioning, and President and CEO of Borg-Warner Automotive, Inc. where he retired in 1988. He is the former owner and Chairman of the Board of Fisher Electric in Kansas City and he served 20 years on the Board of Directors of Modine Manufacturing in Racine, Wisconsin as the Audit Committee Chairman. At Briar Cliff College, Sioux City he established the Richard J. Doyle Leadership Award 25 years ago as well as the Richard J. Doyle Computer Center and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Business Administration.
He is a previous member of Bob O’Link Golf Club in Chicago, Bloomfield Hills Country Club, Bloomfield, MI, Imperial Golf Club in Naples where he served as President, Naples Athletic Club, Bonita Bay Club, and Brookside Country Club in Columbus.
He enjoyed many years of boating on Lake Michigan and in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as playing gin and golfing with his cronies. He could read a book a day while watching any sport on TV. Dick lived a good life with the highest degree of integrity and saw to the happiness of his wife, children, and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his children Dan (Eileen) Doyle, Michelle (John) Komar, Marie (Scott) Lowe, Cindy (Tom) Wadelton and Ricky (Cortnee) Doyle; his grandchildren Katelyn (Ben) Fox, Kristin & Jonathan Komar, Tara, Christina & Tommy Wadelton, Nathan & Matthew Lowe; his step children Amy (Tim) Henson, Angie (Eric) Pinho, Jessica (Jack) Chaney and Darcy Galbreath and step grandchildren Ali (Lash) Chapel, Jake & Katie Pinho and Josh, Josie & Jason Chaney.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, Florida on October 20 th , at 11 AM where his cremains will be placed in a niche of the Resurrection Garden. A second service will be held in Indianapolis on November 29 th at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or The Bonita Christian Forum at First Presbyterian Church Bonita Springs.
