Savannah/Reidsville,
Mr. Richard Edward North, Sr., age 91, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Glenvue Health and Rehab in Glennville. The Chatham County native had lived in Savannah most of his life until moving in with his daughter and son in law in Reidsville three years ago. He was a World War II veteran serving in the US Navy. Mr. North worked for many years with Southern Glass Company and retired as a Construction Estimator from Builderama. He was a lifelong member and a former Deacon of Silk Hope Baptist Church where he served on many committees. Mr. North’s hobbies including fishing and watching the Atlanta Braves. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie North; daughters, Judy Nowell, Wanda North, and Renay North.
He is survived by his children, Lanie (Dr. Chuck) Jonas of Reidsville and Richard (Heidi) North of Bloomingdale; son-in-law, Robert Nowell of Winder; grandchildren, Raynelle Nowell, James Williamsen, Halle North, Trey North, and Rachel Jonas; three great grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday from Silk Hope Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Friday, June 2, 2017 also from Silk Hope Baptist Church with Dr. Chuck Jonas officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
