Richard Paul Grant, Sr., age 77, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.  He was born on September 12, 1947, in Boston, Massachusetts, and had lived in Glennville since 1987.

Dick was a Vietnam Combat Veteran, having honorably served in the United States Army. His commitment to his country and the values it embodies was a testament to his character. After returning from military service, he devoted 23 years of his life to the Georgia Department of Corrections, where he honed his skills and made a lasting impact on the lives of those he encountered.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dick's greatest joy stemmed from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering support for his family, who cherished the moments they shared together. His legacy will live on in their hearts and memories.

Dick had a variety of interests that brought him happiness throughout his life. He enjoyed hunting, relishing the tranquility of nature as well as the thrill of the outdoors. He was also an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast, finding delight in the challenge and satisfaction of solving each clue. One of his favorite pastimes was watching game shows—especially "Jeopardy!"—where he often impressed others with his vast knowledge and quick wit.

A proud member of the Combat Veteran Motorcycle Association, Dick contributed to founding Chapter 25-7, known as the "Misfits." His involvement in this community showcased not only his passion for motorcycling but also his commitment to supporting fellow veterans and fostering a sense of camaraderie.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Grant and Hazel Rollo Newcomb; his wife of 48 years, Pearl Grant; and his siblings, Joey Grant and Teresa Sweetsir.
