RoAnn Carlyle Hobgood

RoAnn Carlyle Hobgood, 73, of Bluffton, South Carolina and formerly of Smithfield, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. She is survived by her children Mary Tanalega (Scott Whear), Michael Tanalega, and Amelia Tanalega Everett (Dario Everett); her grandchildren Skyya, Akio, Romee, and Ryuu Roan; her sister-in-law Sharon Hobgood; her nieces Lisa, Beth, and Meagan. She was preceded in death by her parents L.W. and Ruth Hobgood; brother Johnny Gill Hobgood.

Ann traveled the world as a military wife from Brazil, Greece, Italy, Australia, and then back to the United States but her heart always belonged to her North Carolina roots. She was an avid reader, played board games and crossword puzzles, and a lover of animals. Above all, Ann was an independent spirit who willed the world around her and loved her children and grandchildren greatly.

A memorial service will occur in her hometown of Smithfield, North Carolina at a future date to be announced. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Lung Association (www.lung.org/get-involved/ways-to-give).
