Collins, GA.
Robert Barnard, Jr., age 77, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 26, 1947, in Collins, Georgia, Robert was the son of the late Ralph Robert and Sybil Louise (Dees) Barnard. Raised on a farm, he learned the value of hard work early on—lessons that stayed with him throughout his life.
A true outdoorsman and hands-on worker, Robert spent much of his career as a skilled tree surgeon, retiring from Pike with a reputation for toughness, dependability, and a bit of bossiness—traits his family and coworkers came to know well. He lived simply, but with passion for the things he loved most.
Robert enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: watching old Westerns, riding horses, playing poker with friends, and hunting quail in the quiet of the countryside. He was a man who appreciated fast cars, had a soft spot for beautiful women, and cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren above all else. A simple man with a strong spirit and a heart full of love—he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Johnny Barnard; and a sister, Geneva Barnard.
Left to carry on his memory are his two sons, Robert Shane (Chelsea) Barnard and William Trinity (Blair) Barnard; a daughter, Brandie Barnard; one brother, Tommy (Diane) Barnard; a sister, Patty (Sam) Busby; eight beloved grandchildren: Ragan, Addie, Braxton, Kenzie, Colt, Emmi Barnard, Courtney Grooms and Ramsey (Leland) Shewlowski; and a great grandson, River Lee Shedlowski He also leaves behind two nieces, Lorie Hutcheson and Christine Jenkins, and three nephews, Troy, Travis, and T.J. Walker.
