Reidsville, GA
Robert Gene Oglesby, age 66, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. The native son of Ohio spent his formative years in the Buckeye State. Immediately following his high school graduation, he would answer the patriotic calling in his heart and join the United States Army. Initially he would serve in the Infantry but would later change his MOS to Engineering. This was a perfect fit as there was nothing that Robert wouldn’t attempt to repair, renew, or rejuvenate! Ultimately, he would serve for 12 years active duty and an additional 8 years in the National Guard. Following his service to the country, he would go on to serve his community. For over 7 years he would protect his friends and neighbors in service at Georgia State Prison before transferring to the Georgia Department of Motor Vehicle Safety as an Inspector. After retiring, he would be able to devote his full attention to his home and family. His talent as a carpenter is evident in the family home as he and his wife, Susan did all the renovations themselves. Robert was known to always have a project or 20 going! Whether it was enjoying a game of clue or uno with the grandkids or working alone in his shop, Robert lived every day to the fullest. A dedicated American, a dependable community servant, and a dedicated family man; Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Bobbi Jean Oglesby.
Left to cherish memories of a life well lived is his wife of over 28 years, Susan Oglesby of Reidsville; a son, Robert James Oglesby of Florida; a daughter, Angela Nimmer of Wisconsin; one step-son, Daniel (Justine) Williams of Glennville; two step-daughters, Tiffany (Christopher) Avant of Glennville and Rebecca (Tylor Burton) Williams of Reidsville; two grandchildren, Jaimie-Leah Oglesby of Reidsville and Robert Michael Oglesby of Ellabell; two great-grandchildren, Alayah and Khloe; other relatives and friends also survive.
