Ronnie Ray Carter

March 15, 1954 — April 8, 2017

Ludowici,

Ronnie Ray Carter Sr, age 63, passed away on April 8, 2017 as a result of a year long battle of Stage 4 Lung Cancer. His family and lifelong friends were by his side when God’s angels came to take him home. Born March 15, 1954 in Moultrie, Ga, he was the son of the late Raymond R Carter and Alice Hale (Taylor) Carter and the brother to Randy Carter, Gary Carter, Wanda Watson and the late Roger Carter.

Ronnie Carter met his lifelong soul mate, Nancy Louise Hayes, on December 24, 1977 after returning from his father’s funeral. He had seen photos of Nancy Hayes and told everyone he was going to marry her before they ever met. That night, while Nancy was babysitting, he came over and confessed his love to her, two months later they were married and began their 39 year life together as one and she became Nancy Carter. They didn’t waste anytime starting their family. Ronnie became a father to three daughters (Karen Carter, Rebecca Carter, Leslie Simmons) and one son (Ronnie Carter Jr). Years later he became a grandfather to one granddaughter (Hope Carter) and three grandsons (Enrique Santana, Emilio Santana, and Austin Carter) and a father n law to Mitch Simmons.

Ronnie was a man who never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his own back to help someone in need.  He was a “jack of all trade” kinda man who endured many hurdles in life from childhood to adulthood and fought every step of the way. When the cards were stacked against him, he always found a way to make it work. He was a kind hearted stubborn man that never stopped giving. Ronnie loved to spend time with his family and friends. Friends became family and strangers became friends.  He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, playing cards, playing the guitar, shooting pool, singing karaoke, and hanging with his best friends Charles and Frances Powell. He was a huge Elvis fan and a collector of Coca-Cola Memorabilia.

Ronnie made an impact on everyone that came in contact with him. He was always smiling and joking and always showed kindness to anyone he met. He leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends that became family. If you have ever had the honor of meeting Ronnie Carter then you should know that you were, and always will be, considered a friend and family.
