Mr. Roy Brice Walker, Sr. age 79 passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family and under the care of Affinis Hospice. The Long County native had lived in Glennville most of his life. He was the owner and operator of Roy’s Garage. In his spare time he loved to go fishing and working on his hot rods. Mr. Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a member of the Glennville First United Pentecostal Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Brice and Anna Ray Walker; brothers, Arthur, Roland, Doland Walker and Doc Blocker; sisters, Josaphine Ray, Rose Burkhalter, Retha Holland, and Opal Deloach; son-in-law, Ricky F. Dukes, Sr.; and a grandson, Justin Lee Walker.
He is survived by his wife of 38yrs, Carol Walker of Glennville; sons, Roy B. Walker, Jr. of Glennville, Ruben (Crissy) Melendez of Atlanta, Shawn (Ashley)Melendez of Glennville; daughters, Debbie (John) North of Claxton, Belinda Dukes of Glennville and Melissa (Lamar) Cook of Hinesville; sisters, Lois (Matthew) Bryant of Eden, Mildred (Alan)Strickland of Pooler, Mary Moody of Ludowici, Rita Walker of Glennville, Myrtle (Buster) Williams of Metter; Molly Logan of Glennville and Pauline Huber; brothers, Freeman Walker of Jesup, Douglas “Man” Walker of Glennville; Nolan Walker of Jesup, and Charlton “Bud” Blocker of Glennville; grandchildren, Alexis (Justin) Blair, Brittany (Heith) Dykes , Ciara Dasher , Angel Walker, Harley (Lawrence) Bradley , Ryan Dasher, Amber Walker, Ian North, Aidan North, Abbott Melendez, Conner Melendez, Tyler Cook, Kristin Cook, Vicky Bruce (Kacy), Ricky Dukes, Jr; great-grandchildren, Bailey Blair, Brody Blair, Wyatt Dykes, Lawton Dykes, Jagger Bruce, London Smith, Kinsley Cook, numerous nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion, Mitzi.
Visitation will begin 6:00pm Saturday, August 16, 2014 from the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, August 17, 2014 from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation Services and Burial, Glennville (formerly Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home Glennville Chapel) with the Reverend Brad Pickering officiating. Interment will follow in the Glennville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Alex Rogers, Wayne Easterling, Pat Easterling, Craig Nobles, Melvin Harris, and Chris Cummings.
