Rudolph Smith, Jr.

March 17, 1944 — June 9, 2022

Reidsville

Reidsville, GA

Rudolph Smith, Jr., age 78, entered eternal Glory on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Memorial University Health Hospital in Savannah.  The Tattnall County native was born on March 17, 1944, to Rudolph Smith, Sr. and Nethrea Brewton Smith and lived much of his life in the Reidsville area.  His formative years were spent in the Tattnall County school system before his graduation in 1962 from Reidsville High School, where he was a celebrated track star.  Following graduation, he would move to Miami Florida.  It was there that he would meet the mother of his children and best friend, Georgia.  Three beautiful children would be the result of their union.  In the 70’s he would move back to Tattnall County.  Randolph loved being outdoors and this was evidenced in his employment; he would work for Segal Durrence Farms and, later, in lawn care at Ft. Stewart for Howard Ray.  In his free time, he learned to play the guitar and loved music and dancing.  Among his favorite pastimes, however, was just hanging out with his cousins and close family members.  He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Andre Cornelius Smith; a brother, Billy Smith; and a sister, Geraldine Mincey.

Left to cherish memories of a life well lived are his children, Reginald K. Smith, and Tondra T. Smith both of Reidsville; mother of his children and best friend, Georgia Smith; a brother, Joseph (Jackie) Reynolds of Hagan; two sisters, Shearlene (Billy) Smith of Reidsville and Caroleen Reynolds (Darvin) Byrd; three grandchildren, Latavia Spann, Jerry Calhoun Downey, and DeAndre Smith; one great grandchild, Charles Anthony Grabes, III.; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive.
