Reidsville,
Mr. Rufus L. “Roy” Groover age 82 passed away Sunday November 3, 2013 at his daughter’s residence in Glennville surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. The Tattnall County native had lived in Reidsville most of his life. He served twenty two years in the US Army retiring as a Sergeant First Class. He also retired from Evans Concrete after serving twenty three years. He loved to hunt, fish and was a member of the Reidsville Church of God. Mr. Groover is preceded in death by his wives, Norma Jean Groover and Mary Howard Groover; brother, JJ Groover.
He is survived by: His wife, Mary Spikes Groover of Reidsville; Daughters and sons in law, Gloria Jean and George M. Brock of Glennville, Marie Inez and John Newberry of TN; Step daughter, Linda (Rocky) Hutcheson of Reidsville; Sister, Gloria Crissler of Columbus, SC, Grandchildren, Sharon (Walt) Hill, David Lee (Marie) Brock and Micah Campbell; nine great grandchildren; two great great granddaughters; two step grandchildren and two step great granddaughters, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will begin 6:00pm Tuesday from the Reidsville Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Wednesday November 6, 2013 from the Reidsville Church of God with the Reverends William Prince and Edward Brannen officiating. Interment will follow in the Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery in Glennville with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be members of the US Army.
