Eulalie Mercedes Lloyd-Phillips, better known as "Sweet Sadie" was born February 12, 1960 on the beautiful island of St. Martin, French West Indies to Antonio B. Lloyd Sr. of the Dominican Republic and Pierre C. J. Lloyd of St. Martin, FWI.   From the time Sadie was a mere toddler in St. Martin, her mother always described her as a people person.  This is because while at home every day, she would look out of the window and wave to everybody that passed by.  From then on, she would always extend a warm welcome and smile to everyone, whether you were family or not.  Everyone always looked forward to seeing her because of her friendly greetings and conversations.  It was natural for her.  She made everyone feel loved.

After living in St. Martin for a few years, her parents moved the family to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.  She grew up on the island of St. Thomas, where her parents raised her and her seven siblings.   Sadie attended elementary, junior, and high school in the U. S. Virgin Islands.  While attending Charlotte Amalie High School, she was enrolled in the Business Administration program, and was a member of the Track & Field team, which she loved.  Sadie graduated in the Class of 1977.  After graduating from high school, she attended the University of the Virgin Islands.  Throughout her years of employment in St. Thomas, she worked at several jobs in the business field, including at the Government of the Virgin Islands for the Department of Property and Procurement, and at the Fort Christian Fire Station, as an Administrative Assistant.  She became an Insurance agent for Associate Insurance Administrators in Doylestown, PA.  Because business was her passion, she excelled in this field.  Sadie was also an active member of the Methodist Church in St. Thomas, where she enjoyed singing hymns and attending class.   In her free time, she loved going to the many beautiful beaches on St. Thomas, enjoying and participating in cultural activities, like Carnival, and spending quality time with family and friends.

After leaving St. Thomas, Sadie visited and lived in many states before deciding she would settle in good ole Georgia and make it her home.  In Georgia is where she fell in love and married her loving husband Craig Phillip, Sr.  This loving union of almost 40 years brought forth two beautiful children, Tiffany Phillips and Craig Phillips, Jr., who later brought forth 5 wonderful grandchildren. She loved and adored her beautiful family and friends and was dedicated to them.  She was a dear wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend to many.  Throughout her life, she enjoyed many passions included planting flowers, cooking, traveling, and fashion.  She would plant flowers during the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons, then sit back and admire their beauty.  She loved all different kinds of flowers, but especially her azaleas.  During holidays, Sadie was very festive and enjoyed decorating her house inside and out.  She was an amazing cook and loved preparing delicious meals for the family and could not wait to show off her big spread, as she would call it.  And we could not wait to devour it.  Over the years, she traveled to many places, near and abroad, but visiting home brought her the most joy, because family and old friends were there. Though she enjoyed many things, fashion was, one of her favorites.  Sadie always loved to dress and always looked so beautiful and elegant.  She enjoyed fashion and always made it look effortless.

In her later years, Sadie proudly served as a member of the First United Pentecostal Church, being of great service to her church family and making lifelong friendships within the Glennville community.   Sadie had undeniable strength and faith in God and was an obedient servant of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Though life presented its challenges, Sadie always trusted God to see her through.  With Him, she found the strength to live, laugh and love until the day the Lord called her home into the comfort and safety of his loving arms.  Eulalie Mercedes “Sadie” Lloyd Phillips gained her heavenly wings on March 27, 2021.  Heaven has gained another beautiful angel.  Sadie was much loved and will be missed dearly.  Gone, but will never be forgotten.  May her soul rest in heavenly peace.  Until we meet again.

She is survived by her loving Husband, Craig Phillips; Children, Tiffany LaTonia Phillips and Craig Pierre LaVelle Phillips; Step son, Terral Slaughter; Sisters, Muguette Marie A.
