A Tribute To Sandra J. Geisel-Churchill

Born: October 23, 1945 Passed: November 8, 2015

She was raised in Mexico, Maine and couldn't wait to leave, which she did right after high school graduation. Five girl friends in a graduation gift used car headed to Washington DC to go to work for the government...a life of courageous adventure began. A few years later, with special needs daughter Sondra Lee, they moved to California where care was available for Sondra.

She started her own advertising agency and became an award winning graphic artist. Her thirst for knowledge drove her back to finish her degree in Education at UC Irvine (working 2 to 3 jobs to afford it) where she graduated with honors and membership in Phi Beta Kappa. A scholarship from Cal State Fullerton enabled her to then complete a Master's Degree in Special Education with 5 teaching certificates, again with honors.

Her education career flourished for 30 years, 25 years with Capistrano Unified School District and then 5 years with State of California Department of Education, Special Education Division. Retiring in 2005 and for the last 7 years traveling full time throughout USA and Canada in a 45 foot motor coach with Gator our cat, resting during the winter on Hilton Head Island.

We met by chance at a belated New Years Eve party January 30, 1983 and never looked back. We designed a declaration*, vows, married on a 4 masted 85 foot wood schooner in Dana Point harbor and as a true partnership and best friends, our lives and careers skyrocketed.

PADI certified scuba diver - Private Pilot - Airplane Owner - Instructor IFR Ground School - Wood Carver – Published Author “No, I Don't Want To” on Amazon (Nov. 2014) – Golfer - World Traveler to name just a few other accomplishments.

She is survived by me, her husband of 22 years, Richard, daughter Sondra Lee, son Sean, brother Gregg, step daughter Christina, step son Matthew and 6 step grand children.

She is and always will be my Empress.
