Sharon Kay Rose Ashworth, age 67, Mansfield, died Thursday, July 2, 2015 at her home in Bluffton, S.C., surrounded by family and friends, after a long battle with cancer. She was born January 2, 1948, in New London, Ohio. The daughter of the late Joseph H. and Margaret (Howard) Rose. She was a 1965 graduate of Madison Senior High School. She attended Columbia Union College, Takoma Park, Maryland (1965-1968) and Pacific Union College, Angwin, California, (1968-1969). She was a 1971 graduate of Loma Linda University, California, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. She served as a student missionary In Malamula, Malawi, Africa in 1972. She received a Master’s degree in Art Theory from Wright State University in 1982. She developed the OT Assistant Program Sinclair Community College, Dayton, Ohio, she was appointed chair person in 1989. Retiring from Sinclair in 2014. Sharon enjoyed working on her family's history, reading and writing science fiction. A gifted artist she worked in wide variety of media (fiber arts, weaving, beading) to create original and unique pieces of art. her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband: David W. Ashworth in 2001; and brother: Michael L. Rose in 2014.
Survived by daughter Rebecca Ashworth Alley, Georgetown, Kentucky; two grandchildren: Jessica Hurtt and Jerrika Finfrock , two great grandchildren: Allison and Isabelle, brother: Ken Rose (Betsy), Butler, Ohio; sisters; Trish Reynolds, Columbus, Ohio and Mary Beth Cross, Palm City, Florida, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and Bob the manx cat.
There will be a celebration of Life held in Dayton at a later date. Time and place will be listed on Facebook.
Memorial contributions can be made in Kay’s name to a cause or Society of your choice.
