Shirley Clements

Shirley Thompson Clements, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Community Hospice.  She was born in Reidsville on August 24, 1950, and had lived in the Tyson Community most of her life.

Shirley's commitment to public service was evident throughout her career. After graduating from Glennville High School in 1968, she dedicated 28 years of her life to serving the state of Georgia through her work with the Georgia Department of Corrections. Outside of her professional life, Shirley had a wide range of interests and hobbies that brought her joy. She enjoyed shopping, reading books, and even had a talent for making beautiful jewelry. She was a member of the Watermelon Creek Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her father, Rinaldo Thompson and a sister, Cynthia Uresti.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 53 years, Bart Clements of Glennville; her children: Aric (Lisa) Clements of Glennville, Randy (Allison) Clements of Eden, and Tina (Ashley) Durrence of Reidsville; her mother, Nancy Griffin of Glennville and a sister, Joy (Ricky) Wilson of Glennville; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild on the way; caregiver, Latisha Jackson; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 25, 2024, beginning at 2:00pm with the funeral service to follow at 3:00pm from the Chapel of the Glennville Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Miller and Brother David Cammack officiating.  Interment will follow in the Watermelon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Watermelon Creek Baptist Church Building Fund or the Community Hospice Foundation.

Pallbearers will be AJ Clements, Nevan Dyess, Colby Durrence, Ashley Durrence, Clint Durrence and Jonah Durrence.
