Sister Floy C. Barnard Aspinwall, age 91, a devoted homemaker and minister's wife, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 6, 2024, at Glenvue Health and Rehab. She was born in Collins on April 19, 1933, to Neadom and Bernease Rewis Collins and had lived in Glennville for many years, moving to Rincon in 2011. She was a beloved member of the Rincon Church of God, where she touched the lives of many. Sister Floy's talents extended beyond her roles at home and in the church; she found joy in cooking delicious meals, creating beautiful crochet pieces, and nurturing her garden.
Sister Floy is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Buel H. Barnard, son-in-law Logan Porter, siblings Nadine Richardson, Myrtice Johnston, and Clyde Collins.
She leaves behind a legacy of love to be cherished by her husband Rev. Varney Aspinwall of Rincon; her children Billy (Regina) Barnard of Daisy and Miriam Porter of Glennville; stepdaughter Dedra (Paul) Simich of Rincon; brother John H. Collins of Tyler, TX; grandchildren, Hunter (Ryley) Boyett, Brody Barnard, Elizabeth (Hunter) Kennedy, Liam Porter, Aidan (Tye) Edgy, and Delaney Simich; great-granddaughter, Adalynn Edgy; as well as several nieces and nephews
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am on Monday, June 10, 2024, from the Chapel of the Glennville Funeral Home with the funeral services to follow at 11:00am with the Reverends Nathan Smith and Nathan Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Collins, Tim Terrell, Wayne Terrell, Danny Terrell, Danny Durrence and Mickey Wasson.
