Suzanne Marie Baroody passed peacefully at home on May 7, 2022. Known for her beautiful smile and kind heart, Suzanne was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, free-spirited Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA), a Red Cross Mental Health Volunteer, active member of the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance National Response Team, a Military Family Life Counselor, a licensed professional counselor and therapist, and a great friend to many.
Born June 11, 1954 in Anaheim CA, she was the daughter of Patricia Conley and Clifford Penwell. She had a challenging upbringing, but persevered and worked hard, putting herself through school and raising her children, Sara McKinnon (44) and Jamison Koska (36). She met her loving husband of 30 years, Alan Baroody, in 1990 while they were working at The Bethesda PsychHealth System in Denver.
She felt called to serve others in need through her work at the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Colorado, MAP International in Brunswick GA, and at the Diversity Health Center and the Fraser Center in Hinesville where she provided mental health services. She served active duty military and their families for over 10 years as a Military Family Life Counselor on installations in Georgia, California, Texas, Kansas, Alaska, Germany, Italy, and South Korea.
Suzanne loved the ocean, both the Pacific and Atlantic, and enjoyed going on cruises and walking barefoot on the beach with Alan and gazing out over the water. She was an avid movie goer, former Disney cast member, loved interior design and a good thrift shop. She was always up for traveling adventures and camping in her “girl cave.”
Suzanne is survived by her husband, Alan Baroody and her children, Sara McKinnon, Noelle Baroody, Andrew Baroody and Jamison Koska, her grandchildren Kyla Quinn and Logan Hamilton, her brother Clifford Penwell, her sister Mary Parmley, and her favorite dog, Bailey.
