Sybil Futch

Mrs. Sybil Futch age 79 passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, July 23, 2023. She was born in Lyons on November 8, 1943 to H. Watson and Gladys James Smith.  She had lived in Glennville before moving to Long County over 60 years ago.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Sybil dedicated herself to serving others. She retired as a Food Service Manager from the Liberty County Board of Education after years of diligently ensuring that students received nutritious meals. 

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Mrs. Sybil was a loving and caring individual who cherished time spent with family and friends. One of her greatest joys was having her nephews over at her home while her boys were growing up. These memories created lasting bonds that will be cherished by all who shared them.

Mrs. Sybil had several hobbies and interests that brought her joy. She loved going fishing, searching for hidden treasures at garage sales or thrift stores, and discovering unique items that held sentimental value.  She is a member of Jones Creek Baptist Church and is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Edd R. Futch; as well as her siblings Geraldine Oliver, Imogene Smith, and Hollis Smith.

She is survived by her sons Daryl Futch and David Futch (Cherl), both of Long County; siblings, Doyce Phillips of Ludowici and Ouida Edwards of OK, a cherished granddaughter Taylor Futch; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Jones Creek Baptist Church with the funeral services to follow at 11:00am with Reverend Allan Pierce officiating.  Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
